Public safety has always been a priority of the City Council since the City’s inception.  Residents and visitors alike are provided a high level of protection and law enforcement on City streets.

The City of Santa Clarita provides many public safety programs such as:

  • The STAR Program provides anti-drug and life choice education to all elementary school students.
  • The School Resource Deputy Program ensures that each high school has a full-time deputy sheriff assigned to local campuses.
  • The City’s COBRA Team includes a sergeant and six detectives who work exclusively to combat juvenile crime, reduce gang crime, and increase anti-graffiti efforts.
  • The VIDA (Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives) Program is a highly successful, intensive 16 week program designed to help “at risk” youth through the use of a weekend academy that promotes respect, citizenship, and solid “life choices”.   vida IMG 0052 Santa Clarita – Public Safety Is a Huge Priority

  • The CIT (Community Interaction Team) consists of one sergeant and four deputies and is responsible for proactively addressing quality of life issues in local City neighborhoods.
